The Barnacle or the Mmllusc may hold a secret that scientists are trying to tap in to, to develop new glues. All yacht and boat owners are aware of the stick-ability of these pesky little mites, but scientists are interested in their ability to clear water from the surface of their target before releasing phosphoprotein glue, which is a kind of sticky cement, that anyone who has tried anti fowling will be aware of has one hell of a fix.
If they succeed this product could revolutionize the way we use adhesives.
