An all female rowing team hoping to cross the Atlantic sent out a distress call after losing their oars and other pieces of essential equipment such as GPS due to their boat capsizing. A rescue was coordinated by Falmouth Coastuard and the women picked up by a passing cargo ship on its way to Canada.
The team had set out from Gran Canaria hoping to reach Barbados. The rescue took place some 400 nautical miles from Cape Verde.
The girls were attempting the crossing to raise money for charity.
Well done Falmouth Coastguard for the rescue and bad luck girls, but we are sure you will try again and not have such bad luck.
