ARTHAUD GOES OVERBOARD
French solo trans Atlantic solo sailing star Florence Arthaud had to be rescued in the med after going overboard during a call of nature. The Winner of the 1990 Route de Rhum managed to call her mum in Paris by mobile phone after a small wave hit her boat and toppled her into the water.
The 54 year old told the press, 'I quite simply fell into the water while preparing to take a pee.'
She was located and rescued off the coast of Corsica thanks to a headlamp and the GPS system on her phone which she help aloft in a waterproof cover. Ms Arthoud spen t two hours in the waterand was treated for hypothermia.
