AMERICAS CUP BRITISH TEAM
Thursday May 15th, 2014

Sir Ben Ainslie is planning to put together an Americas Cup team in the UK. The Lymington four time Olympic gold medallist is considering sites around Southampton and Portsmouth. He said on BBC Radio:
'We're still waiting for the reports to come through in terms of planning and funding before we can make a final decision, but we hope to be based somewhere in the Solent area which will be great,' he added:
“This will boost the marine industry in this area, which is great for the local economy'.
Recently his ‘Ben Ainslie Racing company’ submitted plans to the Portsmouth City Council requesting permission to build the teams HQ in Portsmouth's East Street.
Its fantastic news for British sailing, as everyone knows that Sir Ben is a natural born winner, as well as his incredible achievements in the Olympics, who can ever forget the incredible job he did as navigator in the Americas Cup 2013 aboard ‘Oricle’ taking them on an unbeaten run to victory, in which many consider the most exciting Americas Cup in history.
Just for the record the event originated off the Isle of Wight way back in 1851, and up to now has never been won by a Britain, with Sir Ben Ainsley at the helm, the Harbourguides crew think this is about to change.
Good Luck Ben!
