ALLIGATOR FOUND BEHIND COUCH BY THREE YEAR OLD
When a Brazilian woman found her son stroking a new ‘pet’ that had taken shelter after a flood she was somewhat shaken. She discovered her 3 year-old behind the settee making friends with a 5ft long alligator that had been washed inside during floods in Parauapebas.
Fire Captain Luiz Claudio Farias told reporters the woman (who has asked not to be identified) was cleaning up the day after the flood when saw her son playing with something behind the couch and was shocked to find out it was an alligator. Fire-fighters were called who then captured the animal and set it free in a nearby environmental reserve.
Capt Farias said, 'She snatched the boy away and called us... If he was hungry, he could have seriously hurt or even killed the boy... Cities in this region were built very near rivers and the rainforests, which is why it is not uncommon to see animals like alligators and snakes entering people's houses.”
