Filibuster
The political term to delay or obstruct the passage of legislation by hijacking parliament by relentless speech making is actually derived from the old English name for Buccaneers. It came from the Dutch word for freebooter ‘vrybuiter’ which was then translated into French as ‘flibustier’ which in turn was mispronounced by the English as filibuster.
