We have tried to create an informal restaurant that has something for everyone. It has a casual vibe, serves food all day every day and caters to a range of tastes and budgets. Our menu has something for everything occasion, from coffee and cake, a quick bite to eat with the children to a more celebratory meal with friends and family and a superb cocktail list for those special occasions.

The Yellow Earl gets its name from the 5th Earl of Londsale, Hugh Cecil Lowther.
He inherited enormous wealth, derived from Cumberland coalmines, and owned 75,000 acres of land.
He had residences at Lowther Castle, at Whitehaven Castle, Barleythorpe and Carlton House Terrace, London.

In the tradition of the peddlers of bygone days who travelled the countryside looking for good things to bring back for their customers, The Peddler seeks out and brings to the table the very best in food and drink, from land and sea, lake and mountain, looking out for what’s new as well as what’s in season and bringing together excellent ingredients as the foundation of our menus.
Based in the striking and vibrant surroundings of the town’s redeveloped Bus Station, The Peddler is helping to breathe new life into this historic North Shore site. We look forward to welcoming you soon.

Gosforth Hall has four dining areas with the bar and lounge offering a relaxed informal feel. The 36 seater restaurant which could easily be set up for formal and informal occasions has a more elegant, relaxed feel and looks out onto the walled beer garden. Or dine al fresco in our beer garden which has recently been refurbished and is fast becoming a favourite with our diners, especially on a warm evening.
The majority of our dishes are cooked to order and can be tailored to meet most special dietary requirements.

After working as a head chef at old Casa Romana Whitehaven for 15 years our Yusuf decided to take it to next level and decided to become the 'capo' .With his knowledge and passion of the mediterrenean kitchen he dreamt to have his own restaurant so he could see people coming to his place experience his tasty food and leave happy.' Il Capo' still refuses to step back and carries on as a head chef making sure all his guests leaving happy.
Casa a Roma is a traditional Italian restaurant located in the heart of town in Whitehaven and it offers its guests to experience mouth-watering home made Italian cuisine in a relaxed and happy atmosphere.

The café, set beside the courtyard offers many perspectives. Inside the converted stables snug stalls cater for up to six persons at a time whilst the airy glass covered courtyard feels like being outside. We even have balcony tables, which is a wonderful place for people watching or for keeping an eye on the famous Rum Story kinetic clock.
However, a choice of seating would not be enough on its own. We are proud that our café's many loyal regulars return time after time for our home baking and tasty meals, or just for a cup of coffee in the friendly atmosphere.
