Had a look at Portavadie yesterday, and its setting is perfect.
Can see why it is getting so popular with southerners , totally different world to the South of England.

Melldalloch Holiday Lodges by Helen
We’ve been several times a year to Melldalloch for over 3 & a half years now, we’ve stayed in both Skye & Islay lodges, both of which have hot tubs.
The lodges are clean & well kept, the beds are comfy, the showers are powerful, the heating works well & the kitchen is well equipped for most eventualities.
It’s in a very pretty area surrounded by woodland. We’ve seen deer, a fox, Pine Martens, red squirrels, rabbits, frogs & lots of grouse in the area. There are only a handful of lodges for holiday rental so it’s a very quiet & peaceful place.
The owners live there & are very friendly, approachable & helpful if you need (or want) them to be but are in no way intrusive.
It’s a short walk to a very quiet beach from the lodges & there are other walks round about or if you’re happy to drive there are loads of places to explore.
The highlight of the holiday for us is without doubt the hot tub, we like to use it three times a day, just because we can! It’s powerful, it’s relaxing, it blasts your cares away, it’s soothing & clears away all of your ‘real life’ issues. There’s nothing better than pushing the bubble button & lying back & chilling out!
The owners clearly explain how the hot tub works & there’s information to follow regarding personal hygiene & hot tub cleaning. The chemicals in the tub are designed to catch any body lotions, deodorants,or anything else that might be on your skin. It can cause a scum line to form when you’re in the tub, it might not look very nice but it means that the chemicals are doing their job keeping the water in the tub clean. Just remember to clean the scum line off each time you use the tub! The hot tub water is cleaned & chemical checked every two days by the owners who are very knowledgeable about the process.
We would recommend Melldalloch to anyone who is looking for a relaxing holiday. Dogs are also very welcome.
We are already looking forward to our next visit 😊

Melldalloch Holiday Lodges by Caroline Hunter
We booked sky lodge for a week l. Myself, my husband and our 3 dogs. The place was absolutely filthy and the hot tub had scum round it. Stained duvets, chipped Crockery, filthy glasses, broken shower and the shower cubical was moulding and black.. the list goes on and I have pics to prove it

Wellpark Hotel by Paul H.Guides
Just spent a couple of nights here, and had a brilliant time.
The owners have done a good job here and is one of the most nautically themed hotels I have ever had the pleasure of staying in, definitely worth a visit even if it is just for dinner or a drink just to take it all in.
Thanks.

All meals are taken in the original elegant dining room overlooking the Kyles and Isle of Bute. With the ornate cornicing, beautiful ceiling rose and superb Victorian fireplace, which when chilly outside provides a warming log fire complementing the cast iron radiators, a more welcoming restaurant is hard to imagine.

Wellpark Hotel
nspired by the true elegance and tradition of the sailing era of the late 19th and early 20th centuries rooms are named after the famous J class racing yachts, many of which have since been restored to their original opulent condition. Some say even better! In the late 1930’s local man, Chester Currie was lucky enough to sail on Endeavour 1 and to be the only Scot in a crew of twenty six sailing on Velsheda. After racing all around the British Isles the final race of the season finished on the Clyde. In each room you will see superb prints of the appropriate J Class yacht by the renowned artist, Tim Thompson.
