Information
GOSPORT:
Taking it’s name from the medieval phrase for ‘port of geese’ Gosport has come an awful long way since 1100 when the Bishop of Winchester was holed up there during a heavy storm and suggested the village should be called ‘God’s Port’. Situated on the south coast overlooking the Solent and the Isle of Wight beyond, Gosport has one of the most enviable locations in the country. The waterfront with its stretches of wonderful beaches is also a favourite with water-sport enthusiasts and pleasure boaters. Yachtsmen take advantage of the nearby harbour at Portsmouth with is plethora of berths and the ease of which it is to sail to the Island directly opposite.
For walkers the area is a paradise. Not only does Gosport’s waterfront offer a truly fascinating stretch of coastline it is also close to the wonderful Alver Valley Country Park, famous for its abundant wildlife. For those with a fascination for nautical history there is the nearby Royal Navy Submarine Museum and Explosion! The Museum of Naval Firepower. If you fancy a round of golf there are few venues to match Gosport and Stokes Bay Golf Club with its spectacular sea views.
Dining out in the town is an adventure in itself from waterfront restaurants to al la Carte and traditional regency restaurants to bistros and ethnic cuisine; Gosport town centre is a mouth-watering delight. For that after dinner tipple, bar snack or an evening on the tiles, the pub scene is vibrant. With music close to the town’s cultural heart, there is also plenty of live music including the Gosport Music festival in June. In fact the town and surrounding area offers virtually a full calendar of events and festivals including carnivals, a Summer show at HMS Sultan, car rallies, the Michaelmas Fayre in September and much more.
Gosport is one of the South of England’s most under rated jewels in its coastal crown. A place to be savoured and appreciated. Be it for a short break or a holiday or even as a stop off point from which to discover this fascinating area of the UK, visitors to the town will never be disappointed.

A £1.5 million investment will see the installation of new electricity bollards at Haslar marina. The smart devices will enable owners to remotely monitor their electrical consumption via web devices. Haslar Marina is run by Dean & Reddyhoff and berth holders will be remotely advised of lack of credit for electrical usage etc.

Reds Brasserie.
I have left a review for this restaurant on trip advisor. The manager has responded saying that there were discrepancies in my report. There was not.
Both burgers were overly salty and we both left the majority of them. This was reported to Oliver the waiter, who was delightful. He could see that they had both been left. The manager says that I was offered sparkling water, I cannot drink tap water or carbonated drinks. My meal was forgotten and I ate after the other three in the party. The defensive manner in which the manager responded to my factual report is sad because it means he will probably not learn from constructive criticism. I would not recommend this restaurant sadly.

Whilst having some minor repairs done in Gosport Marina took a stroll down to Stokes Road, nice little area just past Gosport High Street.
Popped into Waitrose and noticed Affinity Hair salon and remembered them from your site.
Must have been fate as i needed trim anyway, staff were very accommodating and trimmed me.
Killed an hour and was better than mooching around Gosport high street.
Thanks

Was out eating in the local establishments last week, and tried Sapori Italian Restaurant in Lee-on-the-Solent.
Was informed that TAGLIATA DI MANZO had been taken off the menu on numerous occasions but was always requested back. So that was my choice.
Consisted of Beef sirloin, (tagliata) style on rocket leaves & sun dried tomatoes, drizzled with honey and balsamic dressing and parmesan shavings with rosemary mini roast potatoes. Incredible, can see why it was requested back.

Contrary to popular belief the restaurant in Clarence Marina called Red's is still open and never was closed as thought by the locals.
I think they have been confusing it with G's wich did close some tíme ago.
So get down to Red's and see for yourselves.

I found out last thursday about a monthly all you can eat country food night that happens once a month at the Anglessey Hotel, this month was Američan/Californian theme.
Ribs, Seafood stew and pulled pork are just a few i sampled and had no complaints at all.
Changes every month so if you fancy it book ahead and ašk about the country of the month.
Mexico is September i think.

Hi Navigator
Thanks for pointing that out, and yes the map does pinpoint it out at sea. But the clue is in the name in this instance: Spitbank FORT!!! if you check the website out you will see that our location is correct. it is actually in the water..From the reports we have had its also a great place to visit.
But thanks for the feedback.

Gosport Boat Yard by Richard
i have recently used the yard to work on my 10.50 metre sailing boat. I found the staff to be friendly and knowledgeable
The yard was clean and tidy and the lift out and back in was done efficiently, with the cost being reasonable.
All in all a very pleasant experience.

Kemp Sails Ltd by Stephen
I bought two high spec sails from Kemp who did all the measurements. I had to collect them from Gosport, no offer to come and fit. The main is 10cm too short in the foot, the battens were the wrong size, there were burn holes near the luff and only two spreader patches supplied for a twin spreader mast. No apology, just excuses. Second attempt, still the wrong size battens! No extra patches.
Third try, finally the correct battens and patches. I then discovered that the clew slider fitted is too small and pulls out of the track when the wind is above 10 knots. Still waiting for their response on that after 10 days. Would I recommend them? ????????????????????

The Bun Penny by Naomi menetrier
Myself & my friend went in for a drink on Thursday evening
She was going on holiday next day
As I was taking her to the Airport
I thought this would be nice
We went in (quite like a library)
Ordered our drinks, payed to then promptly told last orders is coming up
This was about 9.30
So we took a seat drank and joked about her trip
Then decide to have another
Last orders was called 9.45 😳
This awful woman again
Came over clean the table
Next to us
Only to say pup will be closed by 10
My friend asked could we sit outside & finish our drinks
No she retorted
You have to be off the premises
I said nothing
She then went back
To her comfortable place ( behind the bar)
Constantly rattling her keys

Well if you ever think of visiting
Don’t
It’s the worst pup I have ever visited in Hampshire
I live 4 minutes away
Will I go back?🤔
Never
They wonder why pubs are closing
Down
This is a fine exsample

I visited kemp sails at gosport and asked if they could repair a canopy on my Fairline targa, the person told me he would visit the boat on its pontoon and get back to me in a couple of days, a month later I hadn’t heard anything so I visited again where I was told he would visit the following day and get back to me, once again no contact was made, a month later I phoned the main office where I was advised that no record was held for me , with that the very polite young lady chased up my query and got back to me explaining that the job was too complicated for them and that they were not confident on doing the work. It would have been professional and courteous to have let me know that they were not interested in my job or maybe my Fairline targa is not posh enough for them, I am disappointed that I have wasted two months as I could have gone elsewhere. 🤬

A unorganised, unprofessional yard with a scatter approach to any request and work done.

Very confusing timescales with no return calls on updates.

A wet finger in the air with no formal pricing!

Disappointing!!

We booked a Transit van to move our daughters into their new home and we're very pleased when we received a larger Luton van with a tail lift, for the same cost. The customer service was great and their prices are very reasonable too. All in all we were very impressed and would definitely recommend the company in future.
