We provide a comprehensive range of services including Pre-Purchase Surveys and Insurance Condition Surveys plus Accident Damage Surveys. A full list of services can be found on our Services page. We provide detailed reports which are acceptable to both Insurance and Finance Companies.
Northern Yacht Surveyors are dedicated to providing an independent marine surveying and consultancy service to the yachting and boating communities.
Although base in the North of England we are increasingly called upon to survey vessels throughout the United Kingdom and Europe and regularly travel to Greece.

At our yard in the old port of Skippool we specialise in the building, repair and restoration of classic wooden craft from 8ft dinghies to ocean-going yachts. We have the skills and experience to undertake work in all the common construction methods, whether clinker, carvel, cold moulding or strip-planking.
The latter method has been used to build all sizes of our well known "Sea Otter" canoe yawls which range from 13ft and 15ft daysailers to 18, 21 and 25ft cruising versions, each one tailored to their owner's requirements.
All spars and fittings are designed and made in our workshops in order to maintain our high standards of workmanship.
We also provide outside storage, cranage, grp repairs, welding. We supply timber, plywood, rope, paint and general maintenance materials.
Current projects include
- restoration of a 1913, 7 metre racing yacht
- repair of an 80 year old steam launch
- building of a 12ft lugsail dinghy

Welcome to Fleetwood Nautical Campus which is part of Blackpool and The Fylde College. Fleetwood campus is recognised as one of the top Nautical establishments in the country with a wide range of UK and overseas students. Both Maritime Studies and Offshore are accredited to ISO 9000:2000. Courses are run to the highest standard with an impressive number of state of the art resources which include a Transas full mission ship simulator with five bridges, a fire ground approved by the MCA and OPITO, seamanship centre and launching platform open to the sea, environmental tank and helicopter underwater escape trainer, Fleetwood Nautical Campus has a world wide reputation for its excellence.
