From the sea, Chelsea Harbour is 48 nautical miles upriver from Sea Reach No: 1 Buoy in the Thames Estuary. For vessels entering or leaving the Thames, the recommended overnight mooring, if required, is at Queenbough at the river entrance to the River Medway. Vessels bound for Chelsea Harbour will pass through the Thames Floor Barrier located in Woolwich Reach. Traffic is controlled by London VTS (VHF Ch 14), and vessels equipped with VHF are required to call up Barrier Control on passing Margaret Ness when proceeding upstream, or on passing Blackwall Point when heading downstream. There is a speed limit of 8 knots on the tideway above Wandsworth Bridge
