Welcome to The Minerva Inn. A warm welcome awaits you from Martin, Shelly and the staff who took over The Minerva in June 2007. The Minerva is situated in Looe Street, in the Barbican area of Plymouth, located close to the town centre and bus station. The pub holds live music nights 3 times a week and a Jam night every Thursday, which is free for all budding musicians to sharpen their strings, whistles or vocal chords!
The Minerva Inn was named after the Goddess Minerva. Minerva was the daughter of Jupiter and Metis. She was considered to be the virgin goddess of warriors, poetry, medicine, commerce, wisdom, crafts and the inventor of music( The Minerva Inn is Plymouth’s oldest serving public house, circa 1540.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Minerva Inn.

Have had a few great nights in here, and those are only the ones I remember. Great pub.

This is a very friendly and historic pub situated about 5 minutes walk from the Barbican in Plymouth. It is only small and can get very busy at the weekend with live music. It has a friendly cosy atmosphere and there is a small rear room if you want to sit in a quieter spot.
There is a quiz on a Monday, Karaoke 1st Wednesday of the month and a jamming session on a Thursday.
My favourite is on a Sunday tea time when J D & Coke are on.
