Originally Medina Sailcare was formed in early 2005 by Gerry Faram after the demise of the GBR '04/07 America's Cup challenge. They were situated in Thetis Wharf near the floating bridge/chain ferry until April 2012 when they moved to Cowes Yacht Haven and changed the name to Sailcare Company UK Limited.
Gerry had worked for North Sails UK since 1999, starting in Fareham building new sails then later in the service facility in Hamble doing sail repairs and servicing the regattas in Hamble, Cowes and the south coast. Gerry continued that relationship with North Sails at Medina Sailcare and the new company became a North Sails Certified Service Centre.
The new premises at Cowes Yacht Haven have made it easier for both customers and staff; with close proximity to the marina, boats and the centre of town. The new sail loft is twice the size of the old premises at Thetis Wharf.
