Warmly greeted by a blazing turf fire in the winter months, visitors to PJ's are treated to traditional music sessions on Tuesday and Thursday nights whilst Friday nights are reserved for live music in the new bar. On Saturday nights a DJ plays all the hits from the 80's, 90's and present day.
The Anchor Bar, tastefully extended in recent years, is much enjoyed by both thirsty locals and curious tourists drawn to the pub by both its history and charm. Original features still clearly evident include the bar and former grocery store, plus the bones of a leprechaun and his costume as discovered by the late PJ O'Hare!
Beautifully complementing the downstairs bar is PJ's spacious air-conditioned restaurant. Once the upstairs living quarters, the current owners have made a feature of the striking original stonework, and in so doing have created an inviting air and homely atmosphere.
Seafood, in keeping with the maritime history of Carlingford, is strongly reflected in PJ's menu. Fresh, locally produced ingredients are served daily.
