Oli’s passion for boats and boating started at a young age, from family canal boat holidays to national dinghy racing with the navy cadets.
Before studying at University, he spent a year sailing as delivery crew. Extensively cruising the South Coast of the UK, Eastern Atlantic coastlines, and Trans-Atlantic to the Caribbean, Oli covered some 7,000 nautical miles. He is still keen yacht racing crew, racing in the Solent and around the South Coast.
Oli studied Yacht Manufacture and Surveying (BSc Hons) at Southampton Solent University. He focussed his studies on hull design and sea-keeping through systematic tank testing and formulaic evaluation of custom built hull forms.
Post University, Oli took up a position at a renowned all-service boatyard near Exeter, delivering a wide range of repair, service and maintenance work on a variety of yachts and motorboats. The final three years here were as yard manager, overseeing the repairs department and storage facility.
Oli is also an active member of the International Institute of Marine Surveyors, regularly attending training days, meetings and seminars.

Sadly a very disappointing review to be left after employing this company to carry out an insurance boat survey. We were assured on the day of completion that the boat was safe to go into the water and then there was no concerns on the boat was a very strong and sound condition, including seacock Stern glands and other the boat was scheduled to be lifted and placed in the water under the instruction of the surveyor once the boat had been placed in the water it was apparent that there was some heavy leaking from the stern glands due to suffering from extreme electrolysis by the previous owner had damaged the fiberglass to such an extent that when pressed with a very slight amount of pressure the entire area perished and the Stanland leaked huge amounts of water and the boat had to be lifted out in an emergency costing in excess of £600 loss When Ollie was confronted about the damage he had come up with multiple reasons for how he would not be liable for this issue after seeking further advice from multiple other surveyors and other had concluded that on this occasion the surveyor had not done their job correctly. The company has denied any liability against the problem and will not compensate for the additional charges or complete the survey we had attempted once the work was completed to complete the rest of the survey, but we were ignored on many occasions that we can only imagine was the company attempting to not have any further involvement with the Boat we now therefore have no choice but to seek compensation by the courts as our responses from the company arevery unprofessional the company shows no remorse i’ll cost on our father as the boat will need to be lifted and placed back in again costing in excess of £1200 losses due to this companies negligence we would advise not to use this company under any circumstances. Ollie has the gift of the gab and has an excuse for everyoccasion.
