The Magpie Cafe
It’s known throughout North Yorkshire and beyond as one of the finest fish restaurants in the area. One of the things every visitor to Whitby notices is the queue outside Magpie in all weathers and seasons to sample the finest fish dishes in Yorkshire. Our fish and chips, seafood chowder and other excellent fish dishes set us apart and our reputation is based on the good quality of the food and service we provide to our customers.

Magpie Cafe
Visiting Whitby we had to have at least one meal here. We decided to eat in rather than have a takeaway. Having walked past the day before and seeing the queues we decided to book . We arrived and were promptly shown to our table. The fish as expected was delicious, ass was the rest of the food. The service is good and very well run, this is a VERY busy restaurant but it runs so smoothly. The Magpie Café definitely lived up to expectations for us.

Magpie Café
We had heard about how famous Whitby is for fish and chips before we arrived, so it was no surprise to see four of them featured in your Whitby harbour guide. We opted to try Magpie Café, but when we saw the que we had second thoughts. But we needn't have worried, the staff are obviously used to this and we got served quickly. It was well worth the short wait and we will be coming back for more.

Normally big ques outside at lunchtime as this is a very popular chippy with locals and tourists, however, dont let that put ypu of, the service is very quick and efficient and you will get served quicker than you think. Plus its worth the wait.

Magpie Café
There was a large que to get into the Magpie Café and we were undecided weather to que up or eat elsewhere. In the end we decided to stay with it. we were surprised at how quickly we got in, and it really was worth the wait. Its probably Whitby's most famous fish and chip restaurant and they really know how to look after their thousands of customers and serve up lovely fresh fish with superb batter. Don't be put off by the ques, its definitely worth the wait.

Great to see the famous Magpie on here and looking so well in the photos. Its been some time since we last visited Whitby, but going through this site brings back some great memories. Hoping to visit at the end of September, and of course we will be calling in the Magpie for our fish and chips.
