The first state-of-the-art carob processing plant in Crete, unique in its kind, the HAROUPOERGOSPASIO, opened and remained in operation for twenty years becoming a trademark industry and the commercial nexus of Elounda.
70 years later, the same building was converted into a one-of-a-kind restaurant whilst giving respect and consideration to the carob processing plant and its history. It offers its customers unique quality delicacies, fresh fish and seafood as well as fine wines and drinks. Enjoy high quality Greek cuisine and a high standard of service either sitting on the balcony, with the breathtaking views across the bay, or on the waterfront patio.
After four years, Ergospasio has created an excellent reputation with the locals and visiting tourists for quality seafood and fresh fish. Their unique menu offers delicacies not only from Crete but from all over Greece. The owners supply their own pure-quality, local produce such as olives, olive oil, honey etc. as well as their own quality, bottled wine all of which are greatly appreciated by customers. This beautiful stone-built restaurant is in an impressive position on the waterfront but also has access from the main road into Elounda. It is easily spotted from yachts arriving from the direction of Spinalonga into Corfos bay. Many private yachts visit Elounda each year and because there is no Marina, they anchor nearby in the sheltered bay. Access to Ergospasio is easy by dinghy or small boat either via a small shingle beach or from their lower, waterfront terrace and there are mooring buoys available. The restaurant is also within easy walking distance of the centre of the village. Co-owner, Dimitris, is a fisherman, catching his own octopus and fish. He has many contacts in the marine industry and can offer help and advice if needed.
