The Antelope Hotel is a famous old coaching house in the High Street of Poole and has been a popular meeting place through the centuries. It still retains part of its original 15th century building. Situated so conveniently for Poole Quay (the hotel is not on the quay), the hotel was used by the horse coaches as a stop off for Lymington, Southampton, Bath, Bristol, Weymouth and London.
Step off the high street into the traditional and cosy bar of Poole's oldest hostelry and then walk through to discover the hidden treasure of Smuggler's restaurant. Smugglers is adorned with all kinds of ancient nautical and fishing paraphernalia, very much in keeping with the maritime feel of this old building. Flagstone floors, raised decking areas, wood panelling, brick arches and wooden banisters all combine to create cosy dining areas and of the feeling of a bygone age.
