HARBOUR GUIDES WHITE SAIL OPEN

Never ones to sit idle the Harbourguides crew have decided to launch a challenge and this year we plan to hold the first ever Harbour Guides White Sail Open. In fact we’re so excited about the idea that we’re going to enter the race ourselves. The company yacht, ‘Knight Song’ has been rubbed down,to the gelcoat and given a lick of antifoul paint which has increased her top speed by just under a knot... we don’t expect to win by the way............

There is no date set for the event as yet but it will be taking place during the summer on Windermere in the lovely Lake District. There will be a trophy and prizes for the winning boats and a booby prize for the boat that comes in last(could well be us). There will also be an after race party with food and drink for the entrants, all provided by Harbourguides.

We’re currently in discussions with the Boat Club about possible involvement or venue, but for now we are really looking for suggestions and general feedback. We’re not the best or fastest sailors in the world to be honest. But we’re keen and want this to be a lot of fun. The Harbour Guides White Sail Open will welcome all comers from novice to serious sailing yachtsman. There will be some kind of handicap but we are still in the early stages of organising this at this time. The emphasis will be on everyone enjoying themselves.
