A BUSY YEAR AHEAD

ImageA BUSY YEAR AHEAD
We are now getting well into 2012, and thankfully the winter has been kind to us so far. It’s going to be a very busy year for the crew, as we are having a major overhaul on our website which is going to include some fantastic new features. Our web developer Rob Bethell has once again come up with some great new features that will keep us ahead of our competitors. These improvements will be introduced gradually over the next few months.
The Harbourguides crew are also busy getting our yacht “Knight Song” ready for the trip to Spain from the North West of England. The boat is currently berthed on Lake Windermere Cumbria, so we have to get her lifted out and transported to the sea. The locations we are considering are Preston, Fleetwood or Glasson Dock. All three of these marinas are close to our head office in Lytham St Annes. From here we will sail to the Mediterranean in the summer.
There is a lot of work ahead to get her prepared for the trip, we need autopilot, a new rudder bearing, a new sail drive seal, and countless other things. Once in Spain the boat will be used as a base during our efforts to expand Harbourguides to Europe. She will be used as a mobile office come accommodation.
Despite all the talk of the country being in another depression, we feel that 2012 is going to be a great year. We know businesses are feeling the pinch, so we are going all out to make sure that our advertisers get the best value for money. Once again any profits from Harbourguides will be ploughed back in to company; this has been our policy for the last 11 years and has served us well.
Visitors to Harbourguides increased by incredible 20% again over the last twelve months. We aim to better that this year; our target is to gain 25% more visitors in 2012, a tall order but one we aim to achieve.
On a sporting front, what a year this is for the UK. The 2012 Olympics are sure to give the country a boost. We will be updating our harbour guides to Weymouth and Portland so visitors to the sailing events will have a reliable up to date guide that they can rely on. We will also be keeping you informed on the various sailing events, and results. Also the golf open is in Harbourguides home town Lytham St Annes this year.
So as said at the beginning of this article, 2012 is going to be a very busy year for Harbourguides and the crew.We will keep on going and growing. We are really looking forward to our next challenge and hope you are too. So as always on behalf of all the Harbourguides Crew, let’s have a fantastic 2012 and beyond. Cheers.
