Carabiners for mooring

I use a carabiner for mooring my boat. Its simple to undo but seems secure enough not to undo under pressure. I have recently been told that this is not a safe way of securing my boat. But why?

We wouldnt advise anyone to use carabiners on swinging moorings. We have just put up a news article regarding this, here is the link:
