With its miles of lovely sandy beaches and stunning countryside Lossiemouth owes most of its success to its fishing industry. Now a popular holiday resort, it has since Victorian times, been favoured by visitors temped by the mild Gulf Stream air and picturesque surroundings. To this day the port remains the thriving centre of the town with a spectacular marina taking pride of place. The twin basined harbour is home to Lossiemouth Cruising Club who organise races throughout the season. Lossiemouth also boasts two excellent golf courses, the Old Classic links designed by Tom Morris in 1889 and the new precision course designed by Henry Cotton in 1979, both of which host regular championship competitions. The three-mile West beach takes walkers past the spectacular Covesea Lighthouse and the east beach, which is reached by an old wooden railway bridge across the river Lossie is famous for its man made sand dunes. For walkers there are endless trails and paths to explore with countless lovely surprises along the way.

The town itself is a warm and friendly place where hospitality truly is the name of the game. You can gorge yourself on freshly caught fish and seafood in cosy restaurants or enjoy a tipple or two of finest malt in one of the local pubs.
