We are not sailors but stumbled across your site on a Google search when we decided to visit Guernsey,we have to say that we have found it more useful than any other of the travelling /holiday web sites we have used in the past, really enjoyed the "Restaurant" section.
Keep up the good work.

Some forums have been giving St Peter Port a hard time recently, but John Bailey wrote in Yachting Monthly;"I used the marina 5 times last summer and found the staff helpful and sensible. The only challenges were created by some of the marina users that had boats were that were too big for them to handle comfortably. If only they would learn to relax and follow the advice of the friendly marina staff"

Tried the Lobster Linguini at Da Hello last night, can see why they reached the final for pasta in the UK BEST DISH AWARDS. It truly was delicious and just enough on its own.

Had the pleasure of staying in The Imperial Hotel at Portelet Harbour, what a sun trap from 6.00am til 9.00pm. Also tried the fish and chips, or as the waitress said (eez the biggest fish in the island) which has to be said was correct. Freshly caught with home made chips. Give it a go.

Hi - Iam trying to trace info on my gtgrandfather who was said to have been a Guernsey harbour master. His name was John Palmer from Yorkshire England. He was married in Vale Guernsey to Julia LeMaitre in 1859 and was there building a family until late 1860's so would suggest that was during his time as harbour master. Do you hold records that far back please. Family were in France in early 1870's and don't think they returned to Guernsey. Many thanks from Pat
