FIVE A DAY PASTA SAUCE (PLUS) RECIPE

FIVE A DAY PASTA SAUCE (PLUS) RECIPE

2 courgettes - grated
2 large carrots – peeled and grated
1 large onion – chopped finely
1 red pepper - grated
3 sticks of celery - grated
3 cloves of garlic – crusted and chopped finely
2 tins of chopped tomatoes
½ tube tomato puree
1 handful of chopped fresh oregano
Black pepper
Salt
Olive oil

Use a large frying pan. Fry the oinions in olive oil until soft. Add the garlic. Fry for two minutes. Add the grated vegetables and mix together. Add the tinned tomatoes. Stir well. Use the tins to add the same amount of water (two tins. Leave to simmer for twenty minutes. Add the oregano and stir in. Add another tin of water and the tomato puree. Stir again. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Simmer until the sauce thickens.

Serve on a bed of your favourite pasta and top with black pepper and grated cheese. This will give you all you protein, vitamins, carbohydrates, fat and essential acids etc. And it tastes good.
