The Harbour View restaurant ( upstairs inside Islay Frigate Hotel ) was where I sampled the Venison recently, and it was everything I remember it
should be like, having not had it for quite some time.
The new owners are doing a good job of fine dining upstairs and a varied
snack and lunch menu in the bar seems to be available all the time.
The Venison was delicious though, and I think it is a permanent fixture on the
ever changing menu.

Fantastic facilities down at the harbour office.
Wé were delighted with the astro turf playground for the kids, and adults can excersize on cycling machine next to children.
Was a bit hot today, but brilliant ides.
I recently used the services of Optimum Marine to carry out a survey of my vessel. Oli Byles carried out the survey and I found the service professional, informative and courteous. I would recommend this company. John Heale
Had the pleasure of sampling the Islay Scallops and the Gigha Lobster when I was last in Tarbert and thy were amazing, as far as shellfish goes this is the place to eat.
Try the Venison, I did and it was delicious.
I would say the new owners are well on the right track to restoring it back to what it was like many moons ago, and if you have never tried Venison, give it a go.

Working Art Studio & Framing - Tarbert, Argyll
The Art Studio was opened in 2007. It has been converted from a fishermans net store and is located on Harbour St. Tarbert. You are welcome to visit to view original paintings on sale or to see Stuarts “work in progress”, he may be working on landscapes /seascapes for galleries UK wide, but will for sure have a west coast scene underway.
The Art Studio offers a be-spoke picture framing /hanging service .A wide choice of frames are available from a range of European suppliers.
This is a working studio, feel free to visit and discuss commissions - I undertake paintings of yachts to ships of all sizes, and I'm always available to discuss your requirements.
