Information
Situated around 80miles off the English coast, Sark may be the smallest of the four main Channel Islands, but is also the most enchanting. With 40 miles of arguably the most beautiful coastline in the British Isles it is the ideal destination to explore by foot or bicycle. The stunning rural interior of the island is equally charming and with no cars on the island a visit feels like a jump back in time to traffic free, carefree days.

Sark may only be three miles long and one and a half miles wide but for those who enjoy the out doors it is an ideal place to spend more than just a few days. There is a wide range of accommodation available from award winning hotels to self-catering as well as excellent restaurants and pubs. This magical island temps visitors back year after year and who could blame them? Sark is genuinely captivating; a place to unwind and savour time and time again.

You can withdraw cash inside the HSBC bank and the Post Office but it is good to have cash at hand after these places are closed. Most restaurants and bars now have cash machines though.
Alcohol is now served on a Sunday regardless as to whether or not you purchase it with a meal

For more information on businesses and services in Sark please use the Marine Services, Pilot notes + charts, Marinas, Food and Drink and Accommodation buttons at the top of this page. For a more in-depth search use our "Blue Pages" Business Directory.

Sark Island
What a stunning island this is. sadly we only came over for the day as we were wrongly advised that there wasn't much to do there! They couldn't be more wrong! there's plenty to do here and some lovely bike rides, and restaurants etc. We loved it so much that we are planning to stay for five days later this year. Cant wait!

Visiting Sark and Guernsey
Hi we are planning holidaying in Guernsey this year. We have never visited before but we are looking for an island thats part of the uk and a little closer to the sun. Having looked through the different Channel Islands we have decided on Guernsey and maybe an overnight stay on Sark. We are a family of 4 two children aged 9 and 12. What is the best family hotel on the islands? (Guernsey and Sark)

Well we are back home now from our three months cruising holiday on our yacht Almida.
We spent almost six weeks cruising around the Channel Islands. We used the guide's and noticed that it seems customary to leave reviews on the businesses for future visitors.
Well we visited so many over this period of time, so we will be posting our reviews over a period of time.
It's trying to remember our experiences in each case.
Anyway we are going to give it a try.
Hope you're visitors to the guide's find our comments of use when making decisions on where to go.

We recently returned from our trip to Sark. We found this guides extremely useful on our visit. As seems now the norm, we have left our reviews on the businesses. We have left them as honestly as we can be and our comments are not biased in any way. We have simply left them to help others enjoy this captivating island. We have had probably the best holiday of our lives here and enjoyed every minute of it and we have travelled far and wide. If you are reading this and have never been to Sark, please go. Its an unbelievable experience with fantastic characters. See you again very soon Sark.

I see you are updating your Channel Islands Harbour Guides. I have friends from Northern France who are sailing to Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Sark etc. this Summer. We are going to visit them and help out crewing etc. but dont want to stay on the boat full time and are looking for accommodation. I see you have an accommodation feature on Harbourguides, is this for holiday makers or for crew members? We are on a tight budget and I think a feature on budget price hotels on your guides would be a goods idea.

If you want to see this beautiful island in all its splendour, hire a bike as we did. Its perfectly safe, there are no motor vehicles on the roads, so you dont have the fear of other traffic. I wouldnt dream of taking my family on a bike ride where we live in England, as i would be too worried, but here its an absolute pleasure, and we came back feeling and looking a lot fitter than when we went.
We used A to B bike hire and found them to offer a great service
Thanks

We have just returned from Sark and wish we could go back already.
Upon arriving we decided to walk to Little Sark to La Sablonerie and were just in time for lunch, took us about an hour but one of the best walks I have ever undertaken, even John who hates walking was not complaining.
To anyone reading this who has never been to Sark words cannot describe it but go and see for yourself, if only the rest of the world was so serene and simple.

What a coincidence! We have just watched an Island Parish too, and decided to have a look on the pc to see what there is to do. We searched "Eating and Drinking Sark" and came across your site. This is the first time I have added a comment to a website, but I would just like to say that although we are new to using our computer and the internet, we have now found your website extremely useful and easy to use. We will now be visiting Sark, as well as the other islands here, and look forward to using your guides to help with our trip.

Good service with plenty of bikes. However if you want to guarantee a bike especially electric i would recommend booking in advance. A lot of people on the ferry seem to want to hire bikes and Sark is pretty hilly in parts so the best choice is an electric bike, you will get to see a lot more of the island in a shorter time period. The girls at the hire shop were very helpful and friendly.

Sark Time and Tide by Aide & Sam B & Kids
Sark Time and Tide
Just reminiscing about our holiday in Guernsey earlier this year. We had a fabulous overnight stay on Sark and Sark Time and Tide was our choice of restaurant. There is a good selection of restaurants for such a small island, but this was one of the restaurants featured on this site so we called in. We didn't have a reservation, but I think we were lucky as it got busier soon after we arrived. The menu offers a good selection of meats and seafood, and a children's selection that has proper food rather than just chicken nuggets like a lot of restaurants offer. All four of us enjoyed our food, I had the monkfish and the others had steaks. We(The adults) washed it down with some fine wine. The kids left enough room for a dessert and finished everything. We were expecting quite a high end bill, but were pleasantly surprised when it arrived. Definitely one to visit.

Nova's Bistro Sark
We loved Sark this summer, and wished we had planned to stay longer. We chose Nova's Bistro for our lunchtime meal and loved it. We ate in the garden which is beautiful, as is the food and service. We had fish and lobster dishes and we couldn't have asked for anything nicer. Mad, who owns the restaurant came out to talk to us and offered tips on things to do in Sark. It was a lovely afternoon.

We stopped in at Buddy’s for a lunch whilst visiting Sark. The garden area was lovely in the sun and the food was reasonably priced and good to eat. Additional bonus that the very friendly Buddy was outside the restaurant and in the garden.

Buddy's Sark by Andy Mabkata
We attempted to settle our bill, only to be met with a level of hostility from the waitress that was both unnecessary and frankly unpleasant — comparable to the discomfort of wearing a wet sock, if not worse. As we exited, she proceeded to speak negatively about us and our nationality, which was not only unprofessional but downright disgraceful.

As for the food, the burgers were dry and uninspired, and the beers were served barely chilled — hardly worth the inflated prices. The overall experience was deeply disappointing and far from justifiable. The service staff, particularly the individual we encountered, are in desperate need of a reality check and some serious training in hospitality.

It’s unfortunate, because the location itself has potential, and the resident dog was, quite honestly, the most welcoming part of the visit. With a team that better understands the basics of customer service, this could be a standout establishment. As it stands, it’s a regrettable waste of what could be a great spot.

Buddy's Sark by Martin Dubois
The only good thing about this place is the dog, it is a pity the owners and staff are incredible rude. I would have rather not have eaten. The staff cannot comprehend any for of arithmetic. I was called a bloody Frenchmen by the server. It would be better for a beautiful island like Sark if this restaurant closed its doors immediately.

C'est vraiment une façon amusante de découvrir l'île à vélo. Il y a quelques collines, donc si vous n'êtes pas très en forme et que vous voulez voir une grande partie de l'île, je vous recommanderais de louer un vélo électrique.

Very disappointing. Coffee was undrinkable and we were told we were rude for daring to complain about it!! Menu choices were like something off a child's menu and the dog was the only good thing about this place

Great to see Sark Time and Tide on your guide. We had a lovely meal here last year and the owners were so nice. As anyone will tell you, the only way to get around Sark is on foot or by bicycle.(Unless you happen to have a tractor) But Bikes really are the best way and as there are no cars on Sark, its a really safe way of getting around. Dont let the fact that you may not of been on a bike for many years put you off hiring one. Its so easy to ride them out here and it takes you back to fond memories many years ago..Well it did us.

Without doubt the best way to travel around Sark is by bicycle and the best place to get one is from A to B Cycles. Jenni, who owns and runs the business is very helpful and she has a bike to suit everyone, from young and old, energetic or leisurely, she will find the ideal bike for you. The only problem is having to give it her back at the end of your stay, you will enjoy it that much.

Excellent service with helpful advice about the island. I normally hire a car when on holiday, but as there are no cars on Sark, a bicycle was the only option. Well all I can say is I wish there were more places where the best mode of transport is by bike. I had the best time peddling around and felt that I had actually got in some good exercise, something I hadn't done for some time. A very enjoyable experience and one I hope to repeat this year.

Called in straight off the ferry from Guernsey (We saw it on this site) we hadn't called up or booked and there was quite a lot of people there, however the lady had no problem getting us a bike each and was very helpful. It was a fantastic way to discover the island, although we would have liked to spend more time here, but we had to get the ferry back to Guernsey.
We have already booked a holiday to Guernsey again this year and we are planning one or two nights on Sark to try and get to know this beautiful island a little better. This time we are considering electric bikes. We cant wait to return!!

Reading the reviews makes Nicoles sound like a curry house! but its so much more than that. The owner does cook a mean curry, but the menu serves all kinds of different foods to suit all tastes. You must come and visit this pottery when you come to Sark. Again this was another of the businesses that adds to the charm of this stunning island. Its all well and good being on this beautiful island with great views and restaurants etc. But its important to have things to do. So here you can come and buy some lovely gifts or why not make your own, Lorraine also teaches pottery lessons here, so you can make that gift or keepsake that bit more special by making it yourself. This is the perfect shop for having a different day. We loved it.

Dont let the fact that you may not of been on a bike for many years put you off hiring one. Its so easy to ride them out here and it takes you back to fond memories many years ago..Well it did us.

Lorraine's Pottery & Silverware by Harry & Lynn
You must come and visit this pottery when you come to Sark. Again this was another of the businesses that adds to the charm of this stunning island. Its all well and good being on this beautiful island with great views and restaurants etc. But its important to have things to do. So here you can come and buy some lovely gifts or why not make your own, Lorraine also teaches pottery lessons here, so you can make that gift or keepsake that bit more special by making it yourself. This is the perfect shop for having a different day. We loved it.

Food Stop by Harry & Lynn
We nipped in here a few times on the bikes. Well stocked and it was like going back many years. We love this island so much and little shops like this are part and parcel od what makes Sark so unique.

Bel Air Inn by Harry & Lynn
Good old English style well run pub. Lets be honest theres not a lot of choices when it comes to pubs on Sark. But having said that, its not that type of island. However every island needs a good pub and the Bel Air Inn serves this island very well.

Nicole's Restaurant by Harry & Lynn
Harry had a lovely curry cooked by Mark. Hr really knows his food, especially curries. I went for a fish dish and this was equally as good. Really friendly couple and its such a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere.

A to B Cycles by Steve Harbourguides Crew
Without doubt the best way to travel around Sark is by bicycle and the best place to get one is from A to B Cycles. Jenni, who owns and runs the business is very helpful and she has a bike to suit everyone, from young and old, energetic or leisurely, she will find the ideal bike for you. The only problem is having to give it her back at the end of your stay, you will enjoy it that much.

Caragh Chocolates by Steve Harbourguides Crew
Well worth the short trip from the village to visit this quaint chocolate factory. Caragh owns and runs the business. You can watch as the small team make and prepare all the beautiful chocolates, or have a bite to eat in the lovely cafe. If you have come to Sark, please don't leave without visiting this gem.

Nicole's Restaurant by Steve Harbourguides Crew
It was great to meet Jo and Mark at Nicoles Restaurant. A lovely couple and they serve fantastic. Mark is pretty famous on the island for his variety of curry dishes. If curries are to your taste, then you have found your ideal restaurant. If curries don't float your boat, then no worries the menu is varied and caters for all tastes. Please check this restaurant out when on Sark. You could even just pop in for a drink if you fancy.

Mister Hester's Luxury Holiday Homes by Steve Mallinson HG Crew
I had the pleasure of taking the photos of these beautiful spacious luxury self catering homes. every one has a different character, location, size, etc. The one thing they all have in common is the wow factor. Its probably impossible to recreate the standard of accommodation on a series of photos. These really are "Luxury". Extremely well run by Jess and his partner Sheryl. If you are looking for large luxury self catering accommodation on Sark, then look no further.

Having a bike here is a big YES, the island is lovely, but to explore all of it depending on length of your visit I would definately get one from here.
Tried the other place last time, but we like this one better.
