Information
Situated around 80miles off the English coast, Sark may be the smallest of the four main Channel Islands, but is also the most enchanting. With 40 miles of arguably the most beautiful coastline in the British Isles it is the ideal destination to explore by foot or bicycle. The stunning rural interior of the island is equally charming and with no cars on the island a visit feels like a jump back in time to traffic free, carefree days.

Sark may only be three miles long and one and a half miles wide but for those who enjoy the out doors it is an ideal place to spend more than just a few days. There is a wide range of accommodation available from award winning hotels to self-catering as well as excellent restaurants and pubs. This magical island temps visitors back year after year and who could blame them? Sark is genuinely captivating; a place to unwind and savour time and time again.

You can withdraw cash inside the HSBC bank and the Post Office but it is good to have cash at hand after these places are closed. Most restaurants and bars now have cash machines though.
Alcohol is now served on a Sunday regardless as to whether or not you purchase it with a meal

For more information on businesses and services in Sark please use the Marine Services, Pilot notes + charts, Marinas, Food and Drink and Accommodation buttons at the top of this page. For a more in-depth search use our "Blue Pages" Business Directory.

Visiting Sark and Guernsey
Hi we are planning holidaying in Guernsey this year. We have never visited before but we are looking for an island thats part of the uk and a little closer to the sun. Having looked through the different Channel Islands we have decided on Guernsey and maybe an overnight stay on Sark. We are a family of 4 two children aged 9 and 12. What is the best family hotel on the islands? (Guernsey and Sark)

Well we are back home now from our three months cruising holiday on our yacht Almida.
We spent almost six weeks cruising around the Channel Islands. We used the guide's and noticed that it seems customary to leave reviews on the businesses for future visitors.
Well we visited so many over this period of time, so we will be posting our reviews over a period of time.
It's trying to remember our experiences in each case.
Anyway we are going to give it a try.
Hope you're visitors to the guide's find our comments of use when making decisions on where to go.

We recently returned from our trip to Sark. We found this guides extremely useful on our visit. As seems now the norm, we have left our reviews on the businesses. We have left them as honestly as we can be and our comments are not biased in any way. We have simply left them to help others enjoy this captivating island. We have had probably the best holiday of our lives here and enjoyed every minute of it and we have travelled far and wide. If you are reading this and have never been to Sark, please go. Its an unbelievable experience with fantastic characters. See you again very soon Sark.

I see you are updating your Channel Islands Harbour Guides. I have friends from Northern France who are sailing to Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Sark etc. this Summer. We are going to visit them and help out crewing etc. but dont want to stay on the boat full time and are looking for accommodation. I see you have an accommodation feature on Harbourguides, is this for holiday makers or for crew members? We are on a tight budget and I think a feature on budget price hotels on your guides would be a goods idea.

If you want to see this beautiful island in all its splendour, hire a bike as we did. Its perfectly safe, there are no motor vehicles on the roads, so you dont have the fear of other traffic. I wouldnt dream of taking my family on a bike ride where we live in England, as i would be too worried, but here its an absolute pleasure, and we came back feeling and looking a lot fitter than when we went.
We used A to B bike hire and found them to offer a great service
Thanks

Loved our time on Sark. Great healthy family holiday. We hired a bike from A to B cycles, and pretty much covered the whole island. We found your guide extremely helpful. It was a different holiday than we are used to going on, but we have all agreed its THE best family holiday we have had.
See you soon.

We have just returned from Sark and wish we could go back already.
Upon arriving we decided to walk to Little Sark to La Sablonerie and were just in time for lunch, took us about an hour but one of the best walks I have ever undertaken, even John who hates walking was not complaining.
To anyone reading this who has never been to Sark words cannot describe it but go and see for yourself, if only the rest of the world was so serene and simple.

What a coincidence! We have just watched an Island Parish too, and decided to have a look on the pc to see what there is to do. We searched "Eating and Drinking Sark" and came across your site. This is the first time I have added a comment to a website, but I would just like to say that although we are new to using our computer and the internet, we have now found your website extremely useful and easy to use. We will now be visiting Sark, as well as the other islands here, and look forward to using your guides to help with our trip.

Called in straight off the ferry from Guernsey (We saw it on this site) we hadn't called up or booked and there was quite a lot of people there, however the lady had no problem getting us a bike each and was very helpful. It was a fantastic way to discover the island, although we would have liked to spend more time here, but we had to get the ferry back to Guernsey.
We have already booked a holiday to Guernsey again this year and we are planning one or two nights on Sark to try and get to know this beautiful island a little better. This time we are considering electric bikes. We cant wait to return!!

What a lovely restaurant or cafe Nova's Bistro is. Run by a wonderful character called "Mad" I think? All the staff are cheerful and very friendly, and the food is so obviously home made. The garden area is big enough and an ideal place to sit back relax and enjoy the delicious food served up. 10 out of 10 from us.

Reading the reviews makes Nicoles sound like a curry house! but its so much more than that. The owner does cook a mean curry, but the menu serves all kinds of different foods to suit all tastes. The fish dishes are superb asarethe pasta dishes. Just wanted to point out that this restaurant isnt just about curries, although theyare very good.

Yes Yes yes!! If curries is your bag then yes again. But if not dont worry, theres lots of choices on the menu here. Although the Curry is great, this is not an Indian resyaurant!! The chef and owner couldnt be more English, but he cooks great food.
We loved this restaurant and the bar.

You must come and visit this pottery when you come to Sark. Again this was another of the businesses that adds to the charm of this stunning island. Its all well and good being on this beautiful island with great views and restaurants etc. But its important to have things to do. So here you can come and buy some lovely gifts or why not make your own, Lorraine also teaches pottery lessons here, so you can make that gift or keepsake that bit more special by making it yourself. This is the perfect shop for having a different day. We loved it.

Caragh Chocolates
THE CREAM OF THE CHANNEL ISLANDS We’re a bit of an enigma here on the island of Sark.
Cars aren’t allowed, so we travel around by bicycle or indeed a horse and carriage. If this sounds a bit old fashioned, it is. And we like it that way. Our cows only breathe clean air, and munch on grass that’s rich and lush. They produce milk so full of flavour and goodness, it’s our star ingredient: it becomes wholesome cream that’s almost too thick to pour. We then marry it with carefully selected couverture chocolate, creating a taste as pure and gorgeous as Sark itself.
You'll find us nestled between Guernsey and Jersey. We make all our chocolates by hand, in our kitchen surrounded by breathtaking vistas, coastal paths and secret bays. When are you coming? View a 360° tour

Sark Tourism
Sark is the crown jewel of the Channel Islands, nestled in between Guernsey and Jersey. Car-free with spectacular scenery, bays, coastal paths and cliff top views. Sark offers a truly unique holiday experience for those wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of modern-day life. Whether you walk, cycle or take a tour on a horse and carriage, you will be creating memories that will last a lifetime.
We have no street lights to pollute the skies and Sark became the World’s First Dark Sky Island in 2011. If you are staying overnight, you will be able to see the majesty of the stars, as long as the clouds allow. You could visit our observatory which is open nightly or upon request and learn more about the stars, constellations, galaxies, milky way and much more.
Just under one hour away from Guernsey and Jersey by ferry, we’re quick and easy to get to. View a 360° tour

Boat Moorings
Visitor Moorings
These are available in Havre Gosselin on the west coast and Greve de la Ville on the east coast and are marked with YELLOW buoys. The moorings are substantial and are checked annually but you use them at your own risk.
They are available for £20 per 24 hours or part thereof, payable by card or cash at the Visitor Centre.
At Havre Gosselin there is a small jetty with a ladder for low water access where dinghies can be left. The path to the top of the island begins at this point. At Greve de la Ville dinghies can be left on the steps at the beginning of the path up to the top of the island. If you choose to anchor in either of these locations please keep well away from the moorings.
Anchorages
There is no charge for anchoring off Sark.
Dixcart Bay: A large flat bay with a stony incline from about half way up. Good holding on sand at the seaward end of the bay. An easy path to the top of the island. A very popular anchorage. Derrible Bay: A large flat bay with excellent holding on sand. A long path to the top of the island. Care should be taken to leave dinghies near the steps as the top of this bay is cut off from steps near high water. Grande Greve: Good holding sand at the seaward end of the bay. Please note that the path up to the top of the island from this bay is steep, built by volunteers and not maintained by the Island Authorities..

Great quality food lies at the heart of our hospitality philosophy. We pride ourselves on producing good food using the freshest local ingredients wherever possible. We have a long-standing relationship with a team of local fishermen, farmers and other suppliers. For over 42 years our menus have featured great quality Sark Fresh produce sourced from local suppliers. We call them our Sark food heroes. They grow or harvest only small quantities of fresh produce on a non-intensive and sustainable basis. We are grateful for their dedication, commitment and passion, and for providing us with an excellent variety of Sark Fresh quality produce depending upon the season.
We source fresh local produce before we import anything. We define ‘Sark local’ as being sourced from within a 5-mile radius of the hotel. This incorporates the exclusive 3 mile territorial waters around Sark.
We are proud to have established Sark’s first ever organic market garden at Stocks based on the principles of Permaculture. Helen Magell, the owner has created an oasis of superbly fresh, organic, local garden produce, only 250 metres from the back door of the kitchen. Stephen Fudge, our head gardener is the proud new custodian of the gardens.
