No red poppies for Surbiton station

Giant red poppies adorning the pillars of Surbiton railway station were removed “for health and safety” reasons after bosses decided that they could have been mistaken for red signal lights.

Local residents thought the removal “disrespectful” whilst others thought it a “sad state of affairs” but removal to the booking hall and ticket office by South West Trains merely puts public safety first.
