Trimaran capsizes at Dungeness

Friday April 17th, 2015
A trimaran capsized only one mile from Dungeness Point throwing the crew, a man and a woman into the water. The capsize was spotted by a member of the public who alerted the coastguard who then contacted the HM Customs cutter, ‘Valiant’ which was nearby.
The vessel was easily located due to its AIS (automatic identification system) and the ouple, both of whom had been wearing lifejackets, taken to shore and conveyed to the William Harvey Hospital by an RAF Watisham rescue helicopter.
