RECORD SETTING BOAT TO GO TO WAR Friday August 20th, 2010
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards’ Navy have announced that they intend to replicate and modify the UK built Bladerunner 51 for use as a military craft. The ship holds the world speed record and is capable of reaching velocities in excess of 80mph.

General Ali Fadayi claims that the Revolutionary Guards would be equipped with “many” of the Bladerunners within a year. At a ceremony marking the delivery of 12 other speedboats he said, 'The Bladerunner is a British ship that holds the world speed record. We got a copy (on which) we made some changes so it can launch missiles and torpedoes.'

Jeremy Watts, director of the boat’s manufacturers, Ice Marine said, 'We're a bit bewildered that one of our products is the focus of an international incident after Iran managed to acquire one through smoke-screen tactics.'

It is believed that the tooled up 51s will be deployed to help build Iran’s presence in the Strait of Hormuz.
