ONLINE ENTRY FOR ROUND THE ISLAND RACE

ONLINE ENTRY FOR ROUND THE ISLAND RACE Thursday January 21st, 2010
ONLINE ENTRY OPEN FOR ROUND THE ISLAND RACE

The facility for online entries to the 2010 J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race is now open.

The decision to take entries online was made after the large number received in 2009. Paper entries can be sent by contacting the Island Sailing Club direct. This year’s race will take place on 19th June and covers a 50nm course around the Isle of Wight. It is the 79th edition and the 6th to have the JP Morgan branding. Organisers are expecting over 1,700 boats and 16,000 sailors from across Europe to enter.

The race begins at the Royal Yacht Squadron line in Cowes and heads west to The Needles, past St Catherine's Point, turning at Bembridge Ledge buoy and back into the Solent. There are over 60 prizes to be won, but every entry gets a commemorative Tankard for competing.

The multihull record currently stands at 3 hours 8 minutes and 29 seconds and the monohull record is 3 hours 53 minutes and 5 seconds.
