OLYMPIC OPENING CEREMONY TO BE SHORTENED

British movie director, Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire) is working around the clock in an attempt to cut the Olympic Games opening ceremony by half an hour after the allotted time was cut due to security concerns. The Manchester born Oscar winner has just nine days in which to lose 30 minutes from the £27mil spectacular in a bid to allow security officials more time to deal with the tens of thousands expected at London’s Olympic Stadium.

Boyle plans to turn the arena into a British country scene, complete with 70 sheep, 12 horses, chickens, cows, goats, geese and dogs.

According to reports, 'The show has been cut because of fears that the checkpoints couldn't cope with the huge rush in and out of the stadium... It's not just crowds of fans, athletes and performers (guards from security service) G4S and our soldiers will have to cope with - it's dozens of live animals (featured in the show) as well... All will have to be checked and searched before being allowed into the secure area. It's a huge logistical challenge.'
