ITALIAN MOTORISTS HIT UNEXPECTED JACKPOT
Motorists in southern Italy couldn’t believe their luck when a lorry carrying £1.7mil in Euro coins from Cesena to Bari over-turned and shed its load. As the rear door flew open literally thousands of the one and two Euro coins spilled out scattering along the motorway and forming piles.
By the time police had arrived at the scene of the accident in Foggie, drivers had already made off with an estimated 10,000 Euros. The police then closed the motorway and began trying to recover the money which was being distributed from the Italian mint to banks. The real extent of the loss is yet to be fully assessed.
