MINI B SCUBA GEAR

Regarded by some as revolutionaries in the world of scuba diving, Mini B have taken the forefront in alternative formats to conventional sub aqua gear. Their purpose – to make it easier by reducing complexity and increasing comfort. Style, performance, simplicity and functionality are pre requisites of design in all of their products, making shallow water diving accessible and enjoyable for even the most inexperienced.

Fast becoming the yachtsman’s first choice for scuba gear, the Mini B C-pro manages to give you everything you need for shallow-water diving in one, easy to use, easy to maintain, easy to stow package. The beauty of the C-pro is its simplicity. Basically you get everything you want in what is essentially a rucksack. This makes it easy to handle even for novices and means it is relatively lightweight in comparison to the competition. What’s more, it’s around £120 cheaper than conventional scuba gear.

The C-pro includes an air bottle, buoyancy control device, high and low pressure hoses and the connectors. The only thing it doesn’t have is a depth gauge, but as most experienced sailors know you would dive much below a couple of meters without one. The buoyancy control is a real plus mark as it keeps you in control and prevents the weight of the rest of the gear from pulling you under. A tank of air lasts between 30 to 40minutes (long enough to wear the average yachtsman out) and can be refilled at a dive shop for only a couple of quid.

Another major plus is the kit’s size and packaging. In an environment where space is of an optimum the C-pro proves ideal. It is infinitely more stow-friendly than any conventional scuba gear. What’s more, if you’re chartering abroad the rucksack can double up as hand luggage and the empty air tank can be checked in.

The Mini B C-pro compact scuba diving system is, by far, the most sensible alternative to conventional scuba diving equipment for shallow-water and has won several national and international awards. It can be donned in a few seconds, is easy to operate and is ideal for checking underwater maintenance. And, at around £500 we think it’s an absolute bargain.

One of our shareholders "Shaun Bev" has one aboard his Beneteau 57 and rates them extremely highly,he is also quite a keen diver.Another crew member(Steve Mally) who is also a boat owner is in the process of getting kitted out himself,he has little diving experience,so his comments will be of interest once he has tried them out.

Has any of the Harbourguides Crew tried any of these out, and can they reccomend them or are they just a novelty?
