HG CREW ARRIVE SAFELY IN PORTUGAL

It wasn't all smooth sailing but 'Knight Song' has docked safely in the beautiful city of Povoa De Varzin, Portugal and managed the journey with only a skeleton crew.

Skipper Steve Mallinson reported, 'Due to unforeseen circumstances we had a couple of crew members drop out at the last minute. But we decided to sail on anyway. When we hauled anchor there were only three of us with our collective fingers crossed... Last minute volunteer Dave proved an absolute godsend. The first 30 hours were a veritable nightmare. We were battered by 35 knots of wind that knocked us off course and blew us SE when we wanted to head SSW. We couldn't even use the autopilot on the first night, it was so rough. We took turns keeping watch and eventually the wind dropped and we were soon back on course in idyllic conditions with Dave catching Tuna. We fed well and fared well and 'Knight Song' stood up to all the knocks. It's an experience I will carry with me for the rest of my life.'
