GAS EXPLOSIONS AND FIRE AT FALMOUTH

Emergency services have been called to Falmouth Docks where there have been reports of exploding gas cylinders. Forty fire fighters are dealing the blaze which has been described as a ‘major incident’. According to reports there are between 30 to 40 acetylene cylinders either on fire or at risk of being ignited.

An exclusion zone is being put in place by the police and an evacuation zone has been already been established from Castle Drive and Maritime Flats, with nearby residents advised to keep doors and windows closed. The fire service is employing six pumps, and areal platform and a high volume pump to control the fire. There are no reports of injury.
