FALMOUTH MOTOR CRUISER BLAZE Tuesday January 27th, 2009

Two people had a very lucky escape on Saturday when they were rescued from a 30ft motor cruiser that exploded on the River Fal. They were taken off the boat by a passing yacht.

The blaze was attended by both the all-weather and inshore lifeboats from Falmouth’s RNLI station as they ferried fire-fighters offshore. Other fire-fighters arrived aboard their own rigid-inflatable fire-boat the Transco Phoenix and the fire was eventually brought under control using a light portable pump. The burnt out boat has since been beached on Turnaware Bar.
