LAWNMOWER MAN ARRESTED FOR DRINK DRIVING
When Robert Grimstad took his lawn mower for a midnight spin he can’t possibly have imagined that he would end up in jail. The 38 year old was pulled over by sheriff’s deputies on Highway 17 near Des Moines, Iowa. He claimed that he was on a mission in the name of community spirit and had taken the six-speed lawnmower out in order to pick up discarded cans.
It was bad enough he was carrying out his mission without lights but when police officers smelt alcohol on his breath he was given a blood test and charged with drink driving.
According to Boone County Sheriff Ron Fehr, “It's illegal to drive any kind of motor vehicle anywhere in Iowa while drunk.” When asked how fast Mr Gimstad was going he replied, 'I don't know... How fast can a lawn mower go?'
