ImageDutch police have arrested a man posing as an airline pilot at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport as he was preparing to fly 101 passengers to Turkey. Police boarded the 737 following a tip-off from Swedish authorities.
According to Corendon Airlines the 41year-old had been flying for the company for two years. The man who had once owned a license to fly small planes admitted that he had been flying for various European airlines for 13years and had logged over 10,000 hours.
A spokesman for Turkeys Corendon Airlines said that the man had, 'expertly misled the company with his false papers'.
The man was so relieved when his deception was uncovered that he tore off his pilot’s stripes in the cockpit. He is now awaiting trial for forging documents and flying without a license.
