ImageBLUE AND GREEN HULL PROTECTION WINS AWARD

The new Blue and Green anti-fouling system has won honours in this years DAME Awards at METS 2008, the world’s biggest marine trade exhibition. The ultrasound-based system requires two or more transducers on the inside of a hull, or outer GRP skin if your boat is cored below the waterline. By emitting pulses of ultra-high-frequency sound the device prevents infestation of single celled organisms, thus there is no first step of the food chain to attract further infestation.
According to Mike Arnold – Managing Director of Blue & Green Marine. “This recognition from the DAME Awards jury is testament to the performance of our Hull Protection System… Antifouling is a huge area of concern on both commercial and ecological grounds and Blue & Green has developed and patented a product specifically for the marine sector. This world-renowned recognition helps build Blue & Green Marine’s reputation as an effective new antifouling technology.”
The system does not work for wooden hulls or vessels with mud berths. Bilge-keelers require four transducers. The Hull Protection System won a Special Mention in the Marine Electronics category at MET and also won the DAME award for Most ECO Friendly Product. It will save a lot of headaches but will set you back around £3,950.
