Image$20,000+ REWARD OFFER FOR DREW’S KILLER

With little clue as yet to who shot Captain Drew Gollan in Antigua last week, the owner of the Perini Navi, has put up a US$20,000 for information leading the killer’s conviction. According to a statement issued by John Duffy, president of the Antigua and Barbuda Marine Association a further US$10,000 has been offered by an anonymous skipper and that they had agreed to oversee the fund.

The incident has led to boats leaving the island earlier than usual. In response, Antigua’s National Parks department have pledged part of its rental income to pay for the installation of security cameras in and around Falmouth and English harbours to reassure yachtsmen and visitors that they are safe. There will also now be regular foot patrols in the area and these will carry out regular 'stop and search for vehicles and persons carrying illegal weapons and drugs'.

According to local sources drug abuse is widespread amongst the yachting community and needs to be eradicated to prevent any further increase in related violent crime.

The ABMA have stated, 'The Dockyard police station will be manned permanently. Zero tolerance will be applied to both dealers and users of illegal drugs - without exception.'
