BILGE - ORIGIN

Bilge is the lowest point of a ship’s interior. The first place that was going to show signs of leakage and considered to be the filthiest, dank and musty place aboard. Often the home of bilge rats the term ‘bilge’ has become a term used to describe people talking rubbish.
