We are situated in a beautiful area of Southern England within Poole Harbour. A Yacht Club and Marina with an active sailing programme and over 2800 members. We enjoy the company of many visiting yachts and crews annually.
Our facilities include large changing rooms with plenty of hot water showers to greet sailors at the end of a day's racing. The Club employs a number of full time Staff to manage the site, including Yard staff to maintain rescue boats and offer a service to members. In the Clubhouse we have a Restaurant & Bar facilities. The office staff will be pleased to offer more information about their Club.
With its lively, seafaring atmosphere, this 1090 berth marina is a favourite with yachtsmen and motor cruisers alike. It is situated at Hamworthy in Holes Bay within Poole Harbour, the world's second largest natural harbour. Much of the shoreline is undeveloped and there are many inlets and small islands to explore by boat.
Brownsea Island, the largest of the islands in the harbour, is owned by the National Trust and its woodland area is home to all sorts of wildlife. Out of the harbour to the east lies the Solent, offering year-round racing and sheltered cruising around the Isle of Wight.
To the west is Studland Bay and Swanage, with its popular beach and white cliffs. Travelling further west, there are extensive opportunities for cruising in the unspoilt waters of Torbay and the West Country.

Salterns has an interesting and fascinating past. Dating back to the 1700’s to when the site was active in salt-making, hence the name ‘Salterns’, its history is also linked to pottery making. There has been a yacht club on the site since 1935 and during the war years from 1943-1948 the site was used as the Flying Boat Headquarters and was Britain’s only international airport with famous passengers including film stars, royalty and Sir Winston Churchill. Having purchased the business in 1969, the Smith family (of Matchbox Cars) continued to improve the site and by 1974 developed the marina as you see it today.
Awarded five ‘Gold Anchors’, the highest accolade any marina can achieve, this exclusive marina is positioned in the most stunning of settings, overlooking Brownsea Island and the Purbeck Hills beyond. Born in Calabria in Italy to a large family of four brothers, Nicola De Paula learnt from an early age the importance of food and has brought this love, enthusiasm and passion to Da Vinci’s.

Meal times were typically Italian with a plentiful supply of local, seasonal dishes all served up among the noise and chaos of children! Nicola left Italy in 1984 and came to catering college in Bournemouth. He then spent several years as a Maitre D on busy cruise liners, before returning to Poole to open Da Vinci’s Pizzeria in 1993. Since first seeing the historic buildings on the Quay front, which reminded him of his town in Italy, Nicola had dreamed of opening a restaurant in Poole. His natural flair as a host, coupled with his love and passion for food has guaranteed Da Vinci’s continued position as one of the most popular restaurants on Poole Quay.

The Antelope Hotel is a famous old coaching house in the High Street of Poole and has been a popular meeting place through the centuries. It still retains part of its original 15th century building. Situated so conveniently for Poole Quay (the hotel is not on the quay), the hotel was used by the horse coaches as a stop off for Lymington, Southampton, Bath, Bristol, Weymouth and London.
Step off the high street into the traditional and cosy bar of Poole's oldest hostelry and then walk through to discover the hidden treasure of Smuggler's restaurant. Smugglers is adorned with all kinds of ancient nautical and fishing paraphernalia, very much in keeping with the maritime feel of this old building. Smugglers Bar and Restaurant is open daily for food, with a traditional English fayre, complimented by a large selection of real ales, lagers, wines, soft drinks and coffees to finish. Set just metres from Poole Quay, we are famous locally for our fish dishes and they feature prominently on our menu. However, we also offer dishes for the more adventurous. Smugglers restaurant is also renowned for having the best Sunday carvery in the local area.

We have glorious outdoor dining areas that are ideal spots for a good sunset on warm evenings.
Or, if the temperature isn’t quite on side, we have clear-canopied areas that allow you to enjoy the view at any time of year.
We are a seasonal restaurant but we are currently open for lunch and dinner seven days a week. We can be very busy when open and, thanks to the inclement weather on this side of the Dorset coast, it is better to ring and make sure we are open.
