Geoff and Kelly Duffelen have taken over the successful Boatshed Brixham office and have moved their family from leafy Berkshire to deepest Devon to follow their dreams of working near the sea. Geoff was in the Royal Navy for some years and grew up in Falmouth so has the sea in his blood. After several years working in the marine industry, he moved to work as a sales executive for an office equipment firm rising to the position of Director after leading a management buyout. But the lure of the ocean was too much and so, after some detailed research, he and Kelly decided that Boatshed Brixham was for them. Kelly’s experience is in marketing and media for a leading cosmetics brand so with their business acumen and their overwhelming desire to integrate fully in their new life, Boatshed Brixham looks set to fly. Geoff says, “We were immediately drawn to the Boatshed ideal as it is all about people rather than selling. Anyone connected with boating has a passion and not just a hobby and it is our intention to make sure that both buyers and sellers have a smooth and simple relationship with us. Boatshed is one hundred percent transparent and we always show prospective purchasers a ‘warts and all’ profile of the boat they are interested in. David Greening Naval Architect Ltd completes Marine Surveys, Powerboat Surveys, Yacht Surveys, Naval Architecture and Recreational Craft Directive (RCD) consultancy, working directly with boat owners as well as providing contract services for boat builders and yacht designers.

As a Marine Surveyor and Naval Architect based in Salcombe, I am within easy reach of the South West of England's major sailing centres, however I regularly travel further, including to the Solent. Exeter airport is nearby with good links to major French and Spanish sailing centres, whilst the Plymouth ferry provides easy access to Brittany and Northern France.

With thirty years in the marine industry and having sailed a wide variety of boats from an early age, I have practical experience on and off the water.

ICC Salcombe (Island Cruising Club) is a sailing and sail training centre based in South Devon, UK. From our headquarters ship Egremont, we offer sailing holidays, short & weekend breaks with tuition, or RYA courses for beginner to Yachtmaster, for children and adults. The ICC is based in the Salcombe and Kingsbridge estuary, one of the most beautiful in South West England and offers sailing both in a protected tidal harbour and at sea. Our fleet is one of the largest in the UK, from exciting single handed dinghies suitable for both children and adults to high performance keel boats and sea going yachts.

Situated at the north end of Salcombe Harbour and connected to the deep water by an approach channel dredged to one metre above datum, Lincombe Boatyard is home to five companies who, between them, can provide any service required by a boat owner.

As well as Servicing and repairs we have a massive stock of 'off the shelf' spares for most marine engines. Our stock has been accumulated over 30 years of trading which means that if you need it we are likely to have it available.

You can explore the sheltered scenic Salcombe waters in your own self-drive hire boat. We supply 12-16ft fibreglass boats with steering wheels. Lifejackets, (dog lifejackets), a chart of the estuary and full instructions are all supplied to make your hire as easy and enjoyable as possible.

Salcombe is located at the southern tip of Devon. The large sheltered estuary is very popular with dinghy sailors and holiday makers. Salcombe is used by yachts as a base for cruising the south west coastline and as a point of departure for the Channel Islands and France. Salcombe Yacht Club organises regular dinghy racing, cadet sailing, cruiser races and rallies. Merlin Rocket Week (100 boats entered - the maximum allowed - with a waiting list in 2007) and SYC Regatta Week (290 boats in 2007) take place in July and August. A social programme offers activities throughout the year. The Club House offers a grandstand view of the harbour from its terrace. Showers are available for visiting yachtsmen. There is a well stocked bar and hot and cold food is offered at most lunchtimes and evenings. The Club House has rooms that can be booked for private functions and has a wireless internet connection. When Salcombe Yacht Club celebrated its Centenary in 1984, local historian Sonia Parkinson dipped into the clubs records and history to produce the historical story of the Club which was distributed to the membership. Now 13 years on, Nick Walker has delved into his archives and produced an electronic copy for all to enjoy! The story of Salcombe Yacht Club makes fasinating reading for anyone interested in sailing on the Salcombe Estuary and how sailing has evolved over the years. Since writing the history Sonia and her husband Brian have been elected as Honorary Members of the Salcombe Yacht Club

Yeoward & Dowie operate four full service yards in Salcombe (2), Goodshelter and at Soar. These yards provide the following services: Outboard engine maintenance and servicing for Evinrude, Johnson and Yamaha engines. We will also service and maintain other brands but there may be some delay due to the sourcing of parts. We have four full-time outboard engineers Inboard engine maintenance and servicing for Volvo Penta engines. We have two full-time inboard engineers GRP and wood repairs and maintenance. We are able to undertake a wide range of repair work and have two specialist boat-builders Moorings and ground tackle maintenance. We maintain our own mooring estate and are able to undertake servicing, repair and maintenance of private moorings and slipways Steel work and one-off fabrication. Over the years, we have completed a wide range of specialist jobs - everything from building naval gun carriages to fabricating steel pontoons - and we like to take on challenges!
