Rhodes Information

RHODES
The largest of the Dodecanese Islands, Rhodes aka ‘The Sun Island’ enjoys over 3,000 hours of sun per year and, not surprisingly, is one of the most popular holiday islands in Greece. The ultimate mixture of modern and ancient, natural and by-design, Rhodes’ rich, often turbulent, history combines with modern tourism to create a truly fascinating and fulfilling sunshine holiday experience.

Surrounded by the crystal blue Aegean, Rhodes has always been a magnet for pleasure boaters, its long nautical legacy adding that extra buzz to the sailing experience. The marinas are world-class with more than enough berths to accommodate both local and visiting yachtsmen and the marine services are second to none. Rhodes is also an ideal port from which to explore the surrounding archipelago by water.

The city itself is one of the biggest municipalities in the Greek Islands and is the financial and cultural centre of the south-eastern Aegean. There is a wealth of entertainment on offer from sophisticated nightlife, cultural events, superb sports and leisure opportunities, fine dining, theatre and the arts. Understandably the Island’s historical significance makes it a huge draw for heritage hounds. The place is literally peppered with outstanding ancient monuments ruins and places of legend. Like its neighbouring islands, Kos, Patmos, Karpathos, Kalymnos and Leros, Rhodes is steeped in the stuff of mythology a place of heroes and wonders only found on the written page or the big screen.

A visit to Rhodes is a true life-event. Even if you are only visiting for a sunshine break, to relax on the beach or sail the lovely waters, you are guaranteed to leave feeling a little different, perhaps wiser. A feeling of being touched by something ancient and mystical. A spell that has been cast and will have you yearning to return to this most beautiful of places.

I have heard that you are going to compile your guide to Rhodes in the "near future" Can you be more specific as we are cruising the Islands at the moment and find your guide to Kos very useful. Thanks
