Menorca Information

MENORCA

The most laid back of the Balearic Islands, Menorca is especially popular with young couples and families looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday. With over a hundred beaches to choose from all leading to crystal clear aquamarine water there is somewhere to please every one. From vast stretches of family friendly sand to wild isolated coves approachable only by boat, it is as near to paradise as you’ll get from a holiday island. Menorca is also extremely well equipped to accommodate the thousands of boats and yachts that visit every year. The island’s four superb marinas boast well over 800 berths between them and the surrounding waters offer some of the very best angling, snorkelling a diving the Mediterranean has to offer.

The busiest resort, Cala n Forcat, lies on the west coast and has three small sandy inlets where you can dive off rocks. Probably the most popular with seafaring types who also enjoy the trendy beach scene and vibrant town centre. Couples with young families tend to head for the wonderfully child friendly Cala Blanca, its safe white sand beaches and calm water making it ideal for sunbathing, swimming and paddling. The more hedonistic visitors tend to flock to the south western resort of S Algar, where the beaches are filled with the bold and the beautiful, and the nightlife is almost as exhausting as the day time water sports.

Landlubbers are also amply catered for in the sports department, with a vast choice of out-door activities on offer including, golf, hiking, horse riding and adventure sports. Culture vultures with have a field day in Menorca as it boasts more ancient ruins than any other island in Mediterranean. From massive T-shaped monoliths to prehistoric watch towers it virtually an open-air museum. When it is time to relax and recharge, there are plenty of fine restaurants and friendly bars to choose from, all of them offering typically warm Spanish hospitality.

For those wanting a relaxing yet fulfilling holiday in the sun, Menorca is probably one of the best choices you could make. The all-pervading tranquillity of the relatively unspoilt shoreline and interior make it the perfect place to wind down and forget about everything. But you can guarantee you’ll never forget your holiday.

Menorca is a beautiful island....dont go into Mahon in the summer ...no anchoring is allowed (police chase boats away flashing lights and all) the price for a 15m boat is euros 100 plus a night ...no showers....best to anchor in one of the many coves around the island .

Went into Mahon for fuel ...station was closed for repairs ....had to go to a petrol station and carry fuel to the boat . Also VERY expensive dock fees ...we anchored out and left

I am looking for a resonably priced mooring for my Sunseeker Camargue 46 in Menorca.

Arrived from Sardinia to Mahon Menorca and was asked to pay a tax for anchoring in a lagoon near the entry to the harbour...never encountered this before....not sure if they were police but they had blue flashing police lights.
We left for Ibiza ....no anchor tax there
