Leros Information

Leros capital city is Platanos that in recent years has been connected with Agia Marina in the north and Panteli to the south on both sides of the slopes of Apitiki hill where is the Castle of Virgin Mary.
Krithoni and Alinta are a few km away from Agia Marina and they are the most popular tourist resorts with many hotels. Panteli is the picturesque fishing village of the island with a well organised beach, fishing boats and several taverns and cafes as well as several rooms and self catering accommodations. Vromolithos located next to Panteli, has a good beach and some hotels and apartments. Other resorts on the island is Xerokampos to the south, with a nice beach, from here you can go to Kalymnos by boat. Gourna to the west side of the island has a huge sandy beach. The areas of the north, where is the airport of Leros, incldes Partheni and Plefouti with a beautiful beach with pebbles and trees for shade.
Leros has an Airport which connects daily the island with Athens the Capital city of Greece. Leros island has also daily connections by ferry boats and hydrofoils to Piraeus and most of the Greek islands of Dodecanese like Patmos ,Kalymnos, Lipsi, Samos, Kos, Rhodes, Symi and Nisyros. We hope that soon you will visit that small paradise in the Aegean sea, the island of the Goddess of hunting-Diana. Leros has been neglected from tourism until the beginning of the 70's .The last 30 years though the Europeans mostly Italians ,Scandinavians ,Germans ,French and British has discovered that small Paradise that has a particular beauty that is difficult to find on other islands. Leros is a Green island in contrast with the most of the Dodecanese or Cyclades that most of there islands are rocky and dry. You can see obvious the difference as the ferry boat enters the gulf of Laki or if you are coming with the Hydrofoil from Kalymnos to Leros how the nature changes while approaching Leros having a panoramic view at the bays of Vromolithos and Panteli and then entering the port of Agia Marina at the bay of Alinda. Small hills covered from Eucalypt ,Pines and Tamarisk trees ,small beaches hidden on small bights ,an oasis for the tourist that wants something different from the typical major tourist islands like Rhodes, Kos, Corfu, Mykonos or the volcanic island and most unique of all Santorini.
Leros and its people have kept there local character unspoiled from the package holiday tourism.

We was in Leros five days ago. We ate at patemenos firstly. We loved its there. Lots of yachts dropped anchor. We ate next to the beach on inches from the sea. We ate some good seafood. The wine was pleasant and very inexpensive meal I must say. We sat there for hours. The staff were nice I must say. Thanks

Leros restaurant . Mylos , simply outstanding . We have never visited Leros before , and a very charming little island it is too. We stayed for only one night , we have used harbourguides a few occasions and was very grateful for your help and surprised you had compiled Leros as its only very small. Bravo. We decided to dine at Mylos after reading its advertisement . In all honesty we was simply blown away with its cuisine . The dining experience we will come back for alone. Fantastic views. And so much charachter in a little restaurant by the sea... We will return and also recommend Mylos to our circle of friends. Thank you .

Leros restaurants . We was in Leros and had a great meal at Patemenos on the beach . It wasn't fancy but just very good fresh honest food. Very tasty and house wine was pleasant enough. The price was very cheap. It's great listening to the waves whilst eating with the family. Great. Thanks.

Leros restaurants : Mylos was a very special place indeed , was there in late July . With the most amazing views and in such a beautiful restaurant . The food more than stood up to the occasion . We wasn't expecting that . The food and presentation of the highest standard . Will remember this place for many years and hope to come back to the beautiful island of Leros and visit Mylos once more. Thank you.

A very special little island , little tavernas on the beach . All yachts dropped anchor . This is what I love about sailing . We enjoyed some very good fresh food at Zorbas . No frills , just good honest home cooking . We let them decide what we ate and they gave us a great experience . The wine was much to be desired but that added to its no frills . All for very little money . Thanks harbourguides .

What a peach of a little island . Didn't know about the place and seen your page . Many boats here dropping anchor and just going to eat as we did at Zorbas . This is what sailing is all about . Just hope the weather gets better . Think well go round the island and visit Mylos fish restaurant tonight . Looks special and also was told to go by others on the island . Could be here for three days . Very unexpected. Thanks .
