I set up the brewery in 2001 after 26 years of teaching had driven me to drink!
I make traditional English real ales using where possible local (to the S.W.) ingredients. No chemicals are added and the beer is considered to be a local health drink. The more you have, the better you feel.

During the summer months I produce “Natural Beauty� (a light quaffing ale, very popular on the off islands and at lunch time on St. Mary's) and “Scuppered� a darker malty dangerously drinkable beer with a strong local following.

In the winter I also produce “Whipped and Laid� a dark, stout and “Three Sheets� another dangerously drinkable beer. I also produced a lager type beer called “A.S.B.O.� which was very popular. (It was suggested that a hoodie be offered with every 5 pints bought!)

The beers are available in all good pubs on the island and can sometimes be found at beer festivals all over the country.

Fay lives on the island of St Martin's, Isles of Scilly. Much of Fay's work focuses on her surroundings with shells and pebbles from local beaches being cast to produce charms or clusters to sit alongside handmade neck chains and charm bracelets.
Fay also makes chains which are inspired by fabric textures such as linen and lace and has recently developed this textile theme by introducing solid silver buttons to her collections.

In the main section, we stock items such as Kellogs cereals, Nescafe coffee, Mcvities biscuits, Walkers crisps and snacks, Heinz beans and tinned goods, bread, fresh and long life milk, sugar and many more essential items. However, along side these, we also have a large selection of pastas and pasta sauces, rice (including arborio and sushi), sauces and pastes for the ideal curry or chinese meal, plus all the little extras, even fortune cookies and chop sticks! We also sell a good range of beers, wines and different spirits.
Frozen goods include a large selection of vegetables, chicken (although no red meat), an extensive choice of Birds Eye, Carte D'or icecream, garlic baguettes, and any number of different burgers and grills for the ideal summer barbeque.
If you fancy some cheese, we can furnish you with many different varieties; from English varieties such as Cheddar, Red Leicester, Cheshire, to French, German, Greek or Italian cheeses. There is also a wide range of cooked meats and pies, yoghurts and mousses, bacon and sausages. Soya milk and rice milk are available on request.
Fresh fruit and vegetables are available all year round, and you can buy anything from celeriac to mangoes to fresh herbs at virtually any time. As far as possible we try to support local producers and buy their vegetables, flowers and eggs.

As the first Hairdressing and Beauty Salon to be established on Scilly several years ago, we can offer everything you require for your Hair and Beauty needs. Come and relax while being pampered at the hands of our experienced Stylists and Beauty Therapist.
Using only the best products available, we are able to fully advise and tailor make both hair and beauty treatments for each individual that walks through our doors.

Oriel Hicks opened the Phoenix studio in the Isles of Scilly off the coast of Cornwall in 1991. She has designed and made stained glass panels and windows to commission all over the UK. Her most recent commission has been to design and make the four windows in the little church on Bryher, which were featured in the BBC2 series "An Island Parish" recently.
The commission work is mostly carried out in the winter months, as she makes smaller scale giftware and art pieces for the seasonal tourist market as well as teaching from the studio.
Oriel is also a member of the Guild of Ten, a group of Cornwall-based craftsmen with an outlet in Old Bridge St., Truro.
The studio is situated in the beautiful Isles of Scilly, 28 miles off the coast of Cornwall, a place which gives inspiration to many artists.
It can be visited all year round, and you can watch work in progress, wether that be full size stained glass windows, tiffany glass gifts or unique fused glass dishes, suncatchers and mobiles. There is something to please everyone.
The studio runs craft sessions all year round on weekday afternoons. These are suitable for both adults and children from about the age of four.
There is always a warm welcome, and Oriel is happy to discuss any requirements for stained glass commissions if you can make it to the studio in person, otherwise, browse through this site, as anything can be sent by post or carrier.

Rat Bags are traditional canvas products hand produced to high standards on Rat Island, Isles of Scilly. All products are available by post.

We operate Scilly's only commercial laundry, servicing both commercial and domestic customers from our new purpose-built facility at Porthcressa Beach.
Our welcoming and friendly staff are available six days a week, from 9.00 am until 5.00 pm.

We operate a service-wash only, with loads up to 10kg dry weight, and always do our best to turn around your laundry the same day. Our standard tariff includes wash, tumble dry and fold. Laundry can be collected and delivered for a small charge if required.
