Dingle Information

DINGLE
Situated around a natural harbour below the Slievanea Mountain on the Atlantic Coast of Ireland, Dingle enjoys one of the loveliest locations in the country.
Indeed it was once described by National Geographic as ‘the most beautiful place on earth.’

In recent years it has become popular with members of the yachting fraternity, looking for new challenging coastlines to explore. The area around Dingle is certainly nothing less than dramatic with its countless islands, picturesque bays and lovely beaches. The harbour with its excellent marina (opened 1992) offers sheltered berthing and is close to all the local amenities. The town itself is renowned for its hospitality, excellent restaurants and a whopping 52 pubs. There is a vibrant atmosphere with plenty of live music and good company to be enjoyed.

Lovely though the town is it is the surrounding countryside that is the real magnet. The Dingle Peninsula is a virtual treasure trove of natural and historic gems from spectacular mountain vistas to long sandy beaches, stunning splinter slatted rock masses to awe inspiring cliff faces.

Tiny picturesque villages are scattered throughout the region making it popular with walkers and cyclists and the warmth of the Gulf Stream ensures a green landscape filled with unusual, often rare, flora and fauna. If you get deja vu whilst touring around, worry not. The Dingle peninsula is a favourite amongst filmmakers, with Ryan’s Daughter and Far and Away amongst the many movies made there. As places to get away from it go, you’d be hard pressed to find anyway better that Dingle and it’s namesake peninsula. A magical, truly breathtaking place, it has almost too much to offer.
