CRAOBH

Nestling on the north shore of the Craignish Peninsula, the village of Craobh Haven is the antipathy of what we have come to expect from a British new town. Built to alleviate the housing problems of Argyll in 1993 the village has quickly established a reputation as a popular getaway. With its magnificent panoramic views of the islands of Shuna, Shiel, Lung and the Highlands of Mull you could be forgiven for thinking Craobh had existed for centuries.

A magnet for the sailing and boating fraternity, Craobh’s marina attracts yachtsmen from all lover Europe, keen to take advantage of the sheltered waters and plentiful moorings. With only a few shops, a restaurant and a pub, paying a visit to the village really does give you a sense of getting away from it all; and in the unlikely event you do get the urge to see more people the town of Oban is only a short distance away. It has to be said most visitors find they don’t have nearly enough time to enjoy the spectacular walks and explore the islands. The local wildlife is abundant with countless species of birds making the area a paradise for naturalists and ornithologists. But Craobh is probably best appreciated by visitors that simply sit back and relax, forget about time and lose themselves in the truly magnificent surroundings.
