Calpe Information

CALPE
The delightful town of Calpe is home to the symbol that represents the Costa Blanca – the massive rock called Pennon de Ifach. This incredible geological landmark has attracted visitors from all over the world since time immemorial hence the town became a natural holiday resort. Today Calpe is also a magnet for the international sailing and boating fraternity and has a first-class marina situated at the very foot of the imposing rock. During the summer months in particular the port area becomes a hub for activities in the area. The sailing club, nautical school and fleet of charter cruisers are kept busy throughout the season and to accommodate visiting craft there are 276 berths complimented by a full range of excellent marine services.

The beautiful Blue Flag beaches are where you’ll find most of the accommodation and like Benidorm, Calpe has opted for high-rise apartments and hotels that line the sea front. But unlike its neighbour the beaches are never crowded to capacity. Venture slightly inland and you’ll find a wonderful town filled with historic buildings and fascinating museums. As you would imagine the shopping is high quality with many big names rubbing shoulders with traditional local outlets. There are countless restaurants and bars to choose from and for those with energy to spare ample opportunities to party into the early hours.

The two beaches are situated either side of the rock and are excellent for surfing and swimming. The Pennon de Ifach is also a popular with outdoor types, attracted by its shear magnificence and the spectacular views of the local countryside and the Med. In truth Calpe offers pretty much everything you’ expect from a thoroughly modern Spanish resort, but life is taken at a somewhat gentler pace so you can relax and savour everything there is without feeling obliged to do so at 100miles per hour.
